Playing it Safe Clinic

A fun filled hour of learning. Chloe teaches fundamental basketball skills including ball handling and shooting. Students learn new skills through drills, activities, and games. Playing it Safe Clinic ends with a positive message from Chloe about lifelong fitness, the importance of sportsmanship, and the keys to staying safe at school, in the community and in sports. All students receive a free basketball.

Audience Size: 0-30 Students

Audience Age: 7-13

Length of Presentation: 60 minutes

Location for Presentation: Community Centers, PE classes, After School Programs, and Assemblies

Fee: No Charge

Playing it Safe Basketball Camp

A fun filled day of learning. Chloe teaches fundamental basketball skills including ball handling and shooting. Students learn new skills through drills, activities, and games. The Playing it Safe Camp ends with a demonstration of skills for parents and a positive message from Chloe about lifelong fitness, the importance of sportsmanship, and the keys to staying safe at school, in the community and in sports. All students receive a free basketball, a T-Shirt, and a full color poster.

Audience Size: 0-100 Students

Audience Age: 7-13

Length of Presentation:

Option 1: 9:00AM-12:00PM

Option 2: 9:00AM-3:00PM

Location for Presentation: Community Center, Elementary, Middle or High School Gym

Fee: No Charge

Requirements – School requesting the Playing it Safe Camp provide up to 30 volunteers including facilitators/hosts and coaches. Coaches can be varsity and jr. varsity athletes.

Keys to Playing it Safe

Chloe Furnstahl and her family share a powerful message about safety in school, sports, and the community. Teachers, administrators, parents, and youth leaders will learn the keys to identifying safe environments, safe teaching/coaching relationships, and the keys to keeping an open dialogue with kids in relation to school, sports, and the community. The inspirational story of Chloe (basketball player) and her twin Kelly (gymnast) journey through the sometimes wonderful and sometimes treacherous world of AAU, NIAA, and interscholastic sports, provides the backdrop for a powerful presentation about the need for proper support and care of young athletes insights about how parents, teachers, and the community can insure kids are safe and are able to work towards their goals.

Audience: Parents, Teachers, Administrators, Coaches, and Parents

Length of Presentation: 30-60 minutes (depends on the needs of the event planner)

Location for Presentation: School Events (parent/PTSA/community meeting), Conferences, and Conventions

Chloe Furnstahl’s experienced traumatic events which could have changed the trajectory of her life. The criminal justice system provided a measure of justice, but true healing came through service. Chloe survived, but would not have become victorious without the support of family, educators, and coaches. Her personal story is a cautionary tale regarding how to stay safe in the community, schools, and sports, and what it means to overcome challenges to become a leader and live a powerful life.
